The biggest difference here would be in not having an inside man. To compensate, the team decided to utilize infrared headgear to locate the occupants within the house. They would move in with the stealth of ninjas, quietly negate the threat using silenced weapons and lethal hands, liberating Mike. After that, a quick email to the Mars crew would bestow the green light for landing.
Having worked with this same team for so long, Steve had the utmost confidence in each and every one of them. He trusted every man on his team as he did his own reflexes. He had been in the army since he was eighteen, first in the Airborne Rangers, then advancing to the Green Berets. After twelve years in the military he had been tapped to head up the first, newly formed ATAC team.
These days, he wondered just how many missions he had left in him. He was beginning to feel ‘old’ at 40 and he knew, deep down, the numbers were against him. He had never been wounded or even came close to it. And the longer he continued going out on missions, the greater his chances were of catching a bullet. It was just a matter of time. ‘Someday,’ he thought, ‘I’m gonna have to find another line of work.’ But then, after having finally settled the details in his mind, Steve was able to drift off to sleep for a good six and a half hours, before the plane began its descent.
